Typical to Costa Rica, a Catholic church and soccer field create the town center.  Small mom & pop shops and restaurants line the downtown area. Small hotels, bed and breakfasts and international fusion restaurants are within a few minutes drive.

There is no shortage of things to do in Nuevo Arenal.  Entrance is free to the public boat launch and picnic area at the lake.  The grounds are well-maintained and expansive.  You’ll always be able to find your own area to drop a line or enjoy the scenery.  Sunsets are amazing as the day fades away over the windmills and hills of the lake’s western shore.

Lake Arenal is a fantastic place for boating or fishing.  Wakeboarding, water skiing, jetskiing, and sailing are all popular on the lake.  Kayaking in the tranquil coves will provide an unforgettable experience with gorgeous scenery and the chance of observing exotic wildlife.  Windsurfers and kiteboarders can take advantage of the crosswinds on the windblown western shore.  Anglers will be delighted as they fish for Guapote and Machaca.  These energetic light line tropical fish species bite and fight similar to bass and are loads of fun to catch.
